NC Wildlife will be stocking the Tuckasegee River in Jackson County today 10/7 and Friday 10/9. This will kick off our delayed harvest season. Water levels are still a bit high but clarity is good. Check our link for current stream flow rates before entering the water. Safety first!
The temp was 56 degrees at the house this morning with no new rainfall totals. Temps are forecast to reach the upper 70's and low 80's depending on location. They are also forecasting cloudy conditions today. I did see caddis flying while driving home from our TU Meeting last evening. Caddis have been hatching on a regular basis.
Keep a good selection of caddis in various colors and sizes. Orange is working well but olive will also produce fish. Don't be afraid of using midge patterns. Cream and black will also produce fish. We had a client take a trout in the upper teens using a size 20 cream midge on a 2wt rod.
Tight Line!
