January 30, 2017

Good Monday morning everyone.  We got an inch of snow at the house last evening and the wind woke me up around 3 am.  We are looking at a high of 43 today and Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 50's.

The Tuckasegee is Jackson County is flowing at 513 cfs and it is rising but it should peek soon.  The West Fork is scheduled all day so conditions will be fish-able.  I even seen folks floating the river Saturday and Sunday.

Focus on smaller flies such as Zebra Midges, Rainbow Warriors, and other tiny midges.  Black Stones, Girdle Bugs, and Woolly Buggers can and will excite a strike.  With higher stream flows streamers could also be an option.

Point is that you will need to dress warmly today and with persistence you should have a good day on the water.  Skies are Carolina Blue with bright sunshine and snow covered mountains around you try to seduce a trout on the fine Monday!

Tight Line!
