January 26, 2017
A cold front will make its way across the mountains today ushering in seasonal cold temperatures this weekend. We have slight chance of showers today and some snow showers Friday with highs in the 30's. Now thru Monday we will have our winter weather to close out January.
Duke Energy is scheduled to flow the East Fork and West Forks today, Friday, and Saturday.
East Fork:
Thursday 3pm till 8pm
Friday 6am till 11am
Saturday 6am till 11am
West Fork:
Thursday 8am till 11:59pm
Friday 5am till 11:59pm
Saturday 5am till 11:59pm
As of right now they do not have anything posted for a release on the Nantahala River. These are always subject to change. You can find this information on our website under the fishing links.
With the onset of colder weather I expect most activity to take place subsurface. When fishing in the higher flow rates you will need some heavier nymphs to get deep. Also the onset of higher water levels will give you a chance to chunk some streamers.
Tight Lines!
