Just got in from guiding on the Tuckasegee and I am happy to report that the fishing on the Tuckasegee River is excellent. We took trout on dries as well as nymphs. The temperatures are very mild and the water temp seems to be steady at the 52 degree mark.
I recommend have some stone fly nymphs in black and brown from sizes to 10 to 16. Emergers and soft hackles worked well as they are imitating the life cycle just below the water surface. The trout seemed to be feeding in the tail-outs but I have observed them moving around to other areas to feed. Just keep and eye out and you should be able to locates them.
Tight Lines!
