November 10, 2015

Rain, rain, rain please go away!  Well the rain has stopped but the system certainly gave us large amounts of water with streams now flowing at very high levels which will put the fishing on hold for a few days.  I received almost 2 inches of rain in my rain gauge with also other amounts being reported.

Wednesday looks like the best weather day of the week but if I was you and was looking to do some fishing I would seek out the smaller streams in the area.  GSMNP streams should recede the quickest and they are fishing good.  Dry flies and nymphs are working on local GSMNP streams.

DH waters were stocked last week but with Duke Energy releasing water on almost a 24 hours basis it has been difficult to fish these tailwaters and the last rain event is only compounding that.  Float trips last week produced some really good fish on eggs and streamers.  Eggs had to be fished deep to beat the current flow and some of the fish caught and released were full of eggs.

Tight lines and bent rods!
