I hope everyone is well. It has been a bit crazy around here. We all seemed to get the stomach bug over the Thanksgiving Holiday and we recovered and it was show time in Asheville. I want to thank everyone who came by our booth this past weekend.
I want to focus on the rain and the mild temps that we are getting. We did receive 6" of rain at the house from the last system and as you could imagine the streams were bursting at the seams. Mother nature did a wonderful job of cleaning the streams and banks for us plus providing us with some ground water but some of the streams are still high. Tail waters like the Tuckasegee River on the WNC Fly Fishing Trail are running at 923cfs in Cullowhee, NC and 2590cfs in Bryson City, NC.
Duke is scheduled to release the next three days non-stop at this time.
I have to say that fishing is good right now especially in the smaller streams and the GSMNP. We took a hike Sunday afternoon trying out the GoPro Camera and we seen a good friend of ours and his young son catching trout on Deep Creek. The water is clear and the stream bed is clean.
I encourage you to take advantage of the weather if you can and when it is safe to hit the Tuckasegee River it will be an awesome fishery.
Tight Lines!
