December 17, 2015
The rain is back and much cooler temps are forecast for Friday and Saturday and then the warming trend starts. I did get out yesterday in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and it was a splendid day. It was hard to believe that it is December with weather more like spring. I observed many insects flying for this time of year. Still small bugs worked best.
It looks as though the Tuckasegee will continue flowing in the mid 600cfs range for now. If you are brave it is producing great fish. It is good floating conditions but wading can be a bit difficult with the current flow rates. I could not see the color this morning since is was dark when I past it but I would guess it will a bit off color due to the rain.
Check out some of the other streams on the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail: Scott Creek, Caney Fork, Tanasee Creek, Panthertown Creek, Raven Fork, Whitewater River just to name a few. Options do exist and this a great variety of streams for everyone's likes.
Tight Lines!
